No gear? No problem! On our club nights, we offer full-face helmets and bikes for hire, so you can try BMX before making any purchases. Plus, we offer your first three club nights for FREE, giving you a chance to experience the sport with no commitment.
Minogue Park, Moore Street, Forest Lake, Hamilton
The track is open to the public when no events are scheduled, so feel free to visit and enjoy it at your convenience. Please be considerate while using the track by riding in dry conditions, taking your rubbish with you, and being mindful of other riders. Have fun and stay safe!
Club Racing Night – Wednesdays
Club racing nights run throughout the summer season, from August through May. Practice starts at 5:00 PM, with racing beginning at 6:00 PM. Please ensure you register at the club before racing. The best option is to check in and register via the Hamilton BMX Facebook chat before 4:00 PM.
The first three nights are free, giving you the chance to try it out before deciding to join. After that, it’s $5 per club night, or you can purchase our Hamilton Club Concession for $25 (with a maximum charge of $75 per family). This concession is valid from January through May 2025, allowing riders to compete at every Hamilton BMX club night. (Note: Club nights are closed during the winter months.)
Please be aware that club nights are weather-dependent. For any cancellations, check our Hamilton BMX Facebook page, where updates are typically posted by 4:30 PM.
No need for fancy gear right off the bat! If you have a bike, whether it’s a mountain bike or freestyle BMX, you can start riding with us. However, there are a few things to keep in mind to ensure safety:
If you're ready to race and want to upgrade, we recommend investing in a BMX race bike, designed with lighter frames, specific geometry, and optimized for speed and control on the track.
Your safety is our priority, so be sure to wear the appropriate gear when riding on the track:
You don't need full race gear to begin, but as you progress, you’ll want to invest in specific BMX racewear. For added protection, knee and elbow pads are a great idea, especially for beginners. Popular brands like G-form are lightweight, comfortable, and won’t restrict your movement.
Our track is open to the public when it’s not being used for club training or races. The more you ride, the better you'll get!
To make it easy for you to get started, we host open days throughout the year. These events allow you to come down, meet the club, and try BMX racing. You can even hire bikes and safety gear if you don’t have your own yet.
If you're interested in learning the basics or improving your skills, we run training sessions for all ages and skill levels from September to April. Whether you're looking to race or just ride for fun, our training sessions are the perfect way to develop your technique and meet other BMX enthusiasts.
What do you need to ride?
Riders need to wear:
You can bring your own bike, but please remove bells, stands or foot-pegs. This is for the safety of our riders.
BMX bikes and full face helmets are available at the club for hire at $2 per item. Gloves are also available, these are free to borrow. Hiring items is based on first-come, first-served basis and generally for newer members trying out BMX for the first few times.
